Me, myself and I

There is private worship and there is what we call corporate worship. Private worship is about me and God. Corporate worship is not about me and God--it is about us and God.

So much of the new praise music is “I” this or “I” that. I think a lot of the new music is beautiful and it touches my emotions; yet it would be better if, instead of using the word “I” so much, it used the word “we.”

I am not trying to be nit-picky. It is just that the society we live in is so much about me, myself and I.

Lucifer had an "I" problem also.

Isaiah 14:12-14  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

What a difference from

Psalms 13:6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Psalms 17:15  As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

Psalms 18:2  The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
