Great post Newbie.
My younger daughter Lucy took a human anatomy class when  she was a freshman in college. It involved the use of human cadavers. Since that experience the idea of eating meat is disgusting for her.

That is so cute!

My friend told me that years ago when she was going to an Adventist school in the south -- I guess she was taking a health class or something -- a teacher took her to the meat department of a grocery store and told her to take a seat.  She was just to observe and take notes.  She noticed that once in a while, when the butchers took the sides of beef out of the cooler, some of the beef had black spots and sometimes the black spots would fall onto the floor.  The butchers would cut the black spots out, but sometimes they didn't get it all.  They would then reach over to a bucket on the table that had "pink paint" and a paintbrush, and they would paint the meat that still had black on it.

Some time later she was in a restaurant and was getting ready to take a big bite out of a hamburger.  Then she thought, "Maybe this is made of that beef that had black spots on it."  She put it down and never ate meat again.

Vicki, I haven't heard about it for awhile, but as far as I know they still use "Pink Slime" which is made entirely of meat by products that are not saleable to mix with hamburger in stores and restaurants.
