Emasculating the husband

The culture is emasculating men.

In the sitcom the dog is the smartest, then the kids and finally the mom. The husband is the idiot.

Many cartoons and sitcoms make the father of the family a fool of some kind. Homer Simpson, Dagwood, The Honeymooners, All in the Family, to name just a few that seem to fit the pattern.

I've noticed a real trend in television and movies about women and girls being powerful, in charge, strong, etc.  Not any of the same for men and boys that I have seen.

Just so I am not misunderstood, I don't watch much television and haven't been to a movie in a long time.  When I do watch TV I'm very selective about what I watch.  But since I do watch a few things, I get glimpses of this "powerful female" trend in the news, movie and TV commercials, as well as the start and end of programs I don't watch.  Imagine what one would see if one watched a lot of TV!
