Sunday Morning
« on: August 09, 2016, 07:48:41 AM »
Last Sunday morning I woke up when I heard the front door close.  My husband had gone for an early walk.  I got up, dressed, did some things around the house, and then I, too, went outside to take a walk on that beautiful summer morning, passing my husband who had just returned.

We have a lovely biking / walking trail that passes right in front of our house.  The route we usually take is a two-mile (round trip), gently rolling hike that borders a road, but begins with a fairly long hill that really gets my heart pumping!

When I returned from my walk I noticed pieces of a broken brown beer bottle against our next-door neighbor's retaining wall.  I picked up some of the largest pieces and decided to come back and sweep up the rest because I didn't want any bikers getting flat tires or dogs being walked cutting their feet.

When I got home I mentioned the bottle to my husband, and he said, "I didn't see it when I took my walk," and I said, "I didn't see it either until I came back home."

Then I remembered something.  As I first started my morning walk and had climbed that first long hill, I had seen a blue, nondescript car coming toward me on the road just as I was passing a long hedge of bushes.   Surprisingly, as it passed behind the bushes, a thought strongly entered my mind, "I’m really glad that these bushes are between that car and me." Then I said a short prayer for protection.

It was a strange thought because we live in a really safe neighborhood.  I've walked that trail hundreds of times and had thousands of cars pass me, but I've never had that thought before.  I've always felt safe.  But I had forgotten about that  strong feeling until I told my husband about the bottle.

So I started putting two and two together, and thought, "Why would God give me that thought of being protected by a hedge as a random car goes by?  Could I have been the target of that bottle instead of the retaining wall, but for the protecting hedge?"

The only answer I could come up with was that God wanted me to know that I was being protected.

When I went back to sweep up the glass bits, I found that brown glass everywhere.  It must have covered a 20 to 30-foot area, so it must have been thrown hard.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

And then there are those things God does for us everyday that we aren't even aware of which should be included in our prayers of thanks.

Here it is....  about 10 years ago I was getting together a mailing of "Steps to Christ" book to all my relatives, far away friends, and neighbors.  It was a list of just under a 100 books.  I had sent all the addresses by email and finalized everything with a phone call and payment.  Then as I walked from my kitchen through the hallway to the bedrooms, it happened.  A distinct message to my brain said, "Satan just tried to kill you with a bolt of lightning."  I was shocked and kinda scared but continued on my mission to fetch something from the bedrooms and then when I returned, I did not go through that hallway again, instead, I took another route through the living room to the kitchen.  It happened again.  The message was, "He just tried to do it again."
I was fine and untouched other than knowing that God had intervened and stopped this.  Just recently I did another mailing as many have moved away and new people had moved in.  This time, no such thing happened.  So, I just figured that since Satan was not allowed to kill me, he has decided to do something different.  I am just guessing that he will give impressions to people not to read it or something like that....  So, I prayed and asked God to intervene for my neighbors.

God bless,

Thank you for sharing, Newbie. That IS quite an experience!

The "great controversy" is unabating but growing stronger, especially when we try to share truth with others.

It is comforting to know that God puts a hedge of protection around us if we are doing His will and following in His footsteps.
