I tried to send a picture of my aspiring fig tree but haven't figured out how to insert photo
I think you have to get the link from something like photobucket...so upload there first then get the link and then post it...
that's how it used to work anyway...

Thanks newbie.  Sounds like too much trouble so guess Ed will just have to envision a 5 foot high fig tree that is still in the process of developing that nice full profile that his picture has.   Mine started as an 8" stick with two branches and three leaves several years ago.  It was taken off of a tree that looked like Ed's picture only higher and bigger around.  I despaired of it ever developing when it was still a stick at 4' so looked at the nursery and theirs looked the same and were at least $25. but then mine started to fill out.

The fig bush at Joel's trailer didn't do much till he mulched it heavy with leaves then let them dissolve around the bush from that winter till summer, and had run over them with the lawnmower to break them down quicker, and the fig took off growing from where it froze down to the ground that winter, up to what you see late august early september just outside Nashville TN.   Joel is 6'4" and 300++, and the fig dwarfs him in hight and spread.

BTW when the trunks are 3-4 inches thick, then call it a fig tree, till then it's a bush.  Joel packed leaves around it to protect it from the winter and wind, that's what he mowed into mulch in the spring.

I just switched from photobucket hosting to a different photo host .

Grateful for Psalms 32 and Titus 2:10 While it is true that God gives the message from Scripture and SOP. The taste I give to others about the message sells it or kills it, I learn to walk it well & cook it well & eat it myself, before I preach it.  Then the SDA message appeals by His righteousness.

Put it in photo hosting site by uploading, click on it to open dialog box offers, then click on direct link, once it says "ok" then where you want to post - click on the insert image icon, and paste the copied link there.

Bought my first Asian Persimmon Tree, from Edible Landscaping in Afton VA.    I got the 3/4 gal grafted one.

  http://ediblelandscaping.com/products/trees/PersimmonAsian/GIOMBOPersimmon.php

Description from another site -   https://www.justfruitsandexotics.com/JFE/product/giombo-persimmon-tree/

" Giombo Persimmon Tree – Astringent Kaki Persimmon
The fruit of the Giombo persimmon tree are huge up to 5 inches long. Fantastic quality, smooth texture and very sweet much like the Saijo persimmon. The trees grow large and well suited as a small shade tree. Fruit ripens mid October through mid November. Zones 7-9. "

The no dig, no till, no weed, garden beside the kitchen window is one 6-8 inch layer of leaves, then layers of (roughly ground up wood, covered by finer ground up wood, bark, leaves, clippings etc from the recycle center local free piles .)

Then a row and a half of Celeste figs I am trying to root from hardwood cuttings.

And I got ( two packs of the Mittleider Micronutrient formula & mixed it with 1 bag of 13-13-13 + 4 lbs of Epsom Salts + 1/2 handful of 20 Mule Team Borax ) ='s one 5 gal bucket of weekly feed formula .

Got a pink Brandywine, 3 Cherokee Purple, 2 Arkansas Traveler Tomato plants planted, six rows of peas are 6 inches high, and one red Victoria Rhubarb plant planted .

Got two new red Rhododendrons to plant, two containers of Calla Lilies ( gold / red and violet / red ) , assorted pots of flowers to plant, and garden seeds galore.

What area do you live in?  I live in zone 8 and is still in the 30's at night.  The hi today was 47 but the wind felt much colder.

3/23  A good dusting of snow with the hi of 36.  The collards, kale and swisschard are doing fine.  Spring is my favorite season.
