Proverbs 31:

Grateful for Psalms 32 and Titus 2:10 While it is true that God gives the message from Scripture and SOP. The taste I give to others about the message sells it or kills it, I learn to walk it well & cook it well & eat it myself, before I preach it.  Then the SDA message appeals by His righteousness.

"self supporting" = 130 hits

"   Among the Jews physical toil was not thought strange or degrading. Through Moses the Hebrews had been instructed to train their children to industrious habits, and it was regarded as a sin to allow the youth to grow up in ignorance of physical labor. Even though a child was to be educated for holy office, a knowledge of practical life was thought essential. Every youth, whether his parents were rich or poor, was taught some trade. Those parents who neglected to provide such a training for their children were looked upon as departing from the instruction of the Lord. In accordance with this custom, Paul had early learned the trade of tentmaking.  {AA 346.2}

     Before he became a disciple of Christ, Paul had occupied a high position and was not dependent upon manual labor for support. But afterward, when he had used all his means in furthering the cause of Christ, he resorted at times to his trade to gain a livelihood. Especially was this the case when he labored in places where his motives might have been misunderstood.  {AA 347.1}

     It is at Thessalonica that we first read of Paul's working with his hands in self-supporting labor while preaching the word. Writing to the church of believers there, he reminded them that he "might have been burdensome" to them, and added: "Ye remember, brethren, our labor and travail: for laboring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God." 1 Thessalonians 2:6, 9. And again, in his second epistle to them, he declared that he and his fellow laborer while with them had not eaten "any man's bread for nought." Night and day we worked, he wrote, "that we might not be chargeable to any of you: not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us." 2 Thessalonians 3:8, 9.  {AA 347.2}

"  A Praiseworthy Independence.--Independence of one kind is praiseworthy. To desire to bear your own weight and not to eat the bread of dependence is right. It is a noble, generous ambition that dictates the wish to be self-supporting. Industrious habits and frugality are necessary.  {AH 374.1}

 "Self-supporting Workers

     The Macedonian cry is coming from every quarter. Shall men go to the "regular lines" to see whether they will be permitted to labor, or shall they go out and work as best they can, depending on their own abilities and on the help of the Lord, beginning in a humble way and creating an interest in the truth in places in which nothing has been done to give the warning message?  {CME 21.1}

     The Lord has encouraged those who have started out on their own responsibility to work for Him, their hearts filled with love for souls ready to perish. A true missionary spirit will be imparted to those who seek earnestly to know God and Jesus Christ, whom He hath sent. The Lord lives and reigns. Young men, go forth into the places to which you are directed by the Spirit of the Lord. Work with your hands, that you may be self-supporting, and as you have opportunity proclaim the message of warning.--Medical Ministry, pp. 321-322.  {CME 21.2}

     Where are the men who will work and study and agonize in prayer as did Christ? We are not to confine our efforts to a few places. "When they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another." Let Christ's plan be followed. He was ever watching for opportunities to engage in personal labor, ever ready to interest and draw men to a study of the Scriptures. He labored patiently for men who had not an intelligent knowledge of what is truth. While we are not awake to the situation, and while much time is consumed in planning how to reach perishing souls, Satan is busy devising and blocking the way.--Medical Ministry, p. 303.  {CME 21.3}

Anybody wanting to become financially self supporting ?   If so going to Google and plugging into the Dave Ramsey system is one organized way to get $$ under control, and build a platform to build on to deal with the financial end of the self supporting missionary business plan.

The Missionary end of the plan can get a good start from this link, it's by no means the only one, but with this you can start from your home PC or LAPTOP.     https://www.avadvance.org/en/

Don't know what he says and didn't even know who he is until --- google

David L. "Dave" Ramsey III is an American businessman, author, radio host, television personality, and motivational speaker.
Ramsey's company, The Lampo Group, Inc., headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, oversees six divisions geared toward financial education.[5][6]
Ramsey founded his company, The Lampo Group, Inc., in 1992,[12] initially helping people one-on-one who were struggling with financial issues. In 1994, he hired Russ Carroll, Ramsey's lead financial counselor, and together they began teaching the first Financial Peace University classes on overhead projectors.[12] Between 1999 and 2004, The Lampo Group grew from 18 to 105 team members. There are currently over 500 team members.[13]
Ramsey runs his business completely debt-free, an accomplishment he states was critical to the success of his company.[14]      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Ramsey

You're exactly right, Newbie.  I guess Ramsey has his good points, but not everything he says is biblical or even practical.  I'm somewhat surprised that he is so often promoted among SDA's.  His seminars were offered by one of our local church members a few years ago, but I don't think many attended.  Financial common sense isn't that hard to achieve, especially from a Christian perspective.
