Title: They wanted out
Post by: Richard OFfill on November 02, 2018, 06:16:32 PM
Jesus was accused of being a drinker and a glutton (see Luke 7:34). People who want to justify participating in worldly entertainment sometimes argue that He associated socially with sinners and therefore so can we.

While there is no doubt that Jesus was often found in the company of sinners, we shouldn't for a moment think that he habituated the red-light district to minister to prostitutes or the adult bookstores to share His faith with sexual perverts.

A close reading of Scripture indicates that although Jesus associated with sinners, the sinners He associated with weren't the ones who were "into sin." Rather, they were sinners who were sick of sin and who wanted out.

Rather, they were sinners who were sick of sin and who wanted out.

His message and loving spirit motivated them to action to get out by the power of the Holy Spirit.
