It is good to see you posting again, hounddog! Thanks for sharing these links! I have seen some of them but would like to see them again! The nice thing about videos is that when you miss something, you can go back & watch it again. Makes note taking so much easier! Do you or anyone else here have any comments about what these common related issues are, that are running through much of our church & how we should deal with them?

The emerging church is spiritualist thinking coming into the SDA church.  Books of a new order, rejecting/changing the pillars of our faith, going out to other religions to get their teachings, changing how we interpret the Bible.  We need to be aware of the teachings and practices of these false teachings so that we won't be taken in by error.  It is vitally important to understand the difference between truth and truth mixed with error.  I have noticed that there are words/phrases used that seem right but there is an alternative meaning.  Too much of the world has entered the church.  Don't be taken in by it.

Very well said!

God has given us His Word & the Holy Spirit (which includes our conscience) to guide us!  If we donít study His Word on a continual basis, we lesson our connection to Christ, & we lose the ability to distinguish the sometimes very fine line between what is truth & what is false! Thus we become subject to deception!

I'm not so sure that the emergent church and rest of the stuff that goes with it is the Omega. I believe it will be much more subtle than this. Even some evangelicals recognize these things as problems. Yes, it's sad that our church has been caught up in it but this shouldn't be surprising since it's a rare thing to find someone who is careful about what they read and watch.

Jesus said that if it were possible, even the elect would be deceived.  That implies something subtle.  The elect will not be taken in by the obvious.  Contemplative spirituality is attractive on the surface, and many SDA's are being deceived by it.  Who can be against prayer?   But this "new" kind of prayer is full of eastern mysticism and leads one straight into the arms of Satan.  I believe Rick Howard makes a good case in his book The Omega Rebellion.  Howard Peth's book, The Dangers of Contemplative Prayer should also be read by every SDA.

The emergent church can be very subtle just by members of very conservative looking SDA churches getting caught up in reading books by contemporary writers of other faiths.   These books present a "feel good", emotion based relationship with Jesus.  Mostly a different Jesus than the Jesus of the Bible.

This is what a christian of another denomination said about a book that was given to a family that was baptized at my church today.    " Her claim is nothing less than that she speaks the words of Jesus on behalf of Jesus. ...If this is, indeed, Jesus speaking, we need to explain why he sounds so markedly different from the Jesus of the gospels or the Jesus of the book of Revelation."

"Even some evangelicals recognize these things as problems."  That does not mean that it couldn't be part of the omega.  The alpha was a wrong concept of God and that is what all these emergent, spiritual formation, Jesus all, etc. movements are all about.  As we should remember, God has faithful people in other churches.  It isn't time for them to join the SDA church yet.

If I recall correctly, the "alpha" deception was Kellogg's mystical pantheistic ideas. He also attempted to take over the administration of the church at the GC level. I don't recall the details of that but it shouldn't be too hard to find. I do not think we have seen the last of the WO rebellion. "The church will appear as about to fall, but it will not fall." We have yet to see that. I hope the parliamentarian will disallow any slick parliamentary maneuvers to thwart the intention of the majority as happened in a GC session. I think that happened in 2000.

The One Project put forward the idea that their intent was to focus only on Jesus, as if that was a new approach. In the meetings this morning at the Autumn Council one of the speakers made it clear that Jesus has always been in the center of all of the work of the church. He didn't mention Project One, but I suspect that he had it in mind.

It is good to see you posting again, hounding!

Thank you! But if any don't really have time to go thru all of the sermons posted, I highly recommend the sermon by Dr Davis. One of the more powerful sermons I can remember and which I will watch probably many times more.

I watched the video again this evening. He has a powerful, passionate message! Four things which especially caught my attention: Christ gives spiritual power to overcome sin to those who dwell in Him!  Dwelling in Christ & His Word is the only safety against Satanís deceptions! Those who will not totally surrender to Christ will not overcome sin & will be caught in Satanís deceptions! Dr. Davis referred to his Catholic upbringing & said in that religion a person repeatedly sins & repents, but is never taught how to have victory over sin!

Sin & repent, but never overcome sin -- sounds like the belief of most protestants today, including many in our own church!

The sanctuary is a road map showing the process for overcoming sin by abiding in Christ!

Journey Through the Sanctuary  (by dedication) Is an excellent introduction to understanding the sanctuary & the very personal nature of Christís work in behalf of the repentant sinner who abides in Him!

I am currently reading thru M. L. Andreason's "The Sanctuary Service". Very good book and it really helps to understand the whole purpose of the sanctuary. I have several books on the sanctuary and am just beginning a review of the Sanctuary message from a wide variety of sources. Many Christians, mostly other denominations, see the sanctuary as an OT relic. People kind of focus on the death of Jesus and don't go on. The death of Jesus occurred outside the sanctuary, this earth. God doesn't waste symbols and everything in the sanctuary had meaning. The sanctuary is really a parable of the whole plan of redemption. Of course, Jesus did say, "he that hath ears, let him hear."

This is an article I posted a few years ago. It certainly verifies ones confidence in both M.L. Andreasen & the Divine inspiration of the writings of Ellen White!

M.L. ANDREASEN CHECKS OUT EG WHITE

The first time M.L. Andreasen met EG White was when he turned up at Elmshaven and asked permission to search her original manuscripts to see "what changes others had made."
