Title: Coming Soon

Steve Wohlberg has written a great reminder of what's just around the corner, especially to those who have grown complacent, to wake up and get rid of time consuming worldly trivia in their lives.

Some are saying that Jesus will come in less than 15 years according to the Bible and the SOP. Mrs. White said repeatedly that Jesus came and took the nature of man 4,000 years after the fall. That would mean that A.D. 2031 would be over 6,000 years. If the 6 literal  creation days and then the Sabbath symbolize 6,000 years and then a millennial Sabbath we are over due. It is interesting that on one hand we are told that the Lord would cut the time short for the sake of the elect and yet on the other hand time would tary. It appears to me that the time leading up to the very final persecution tarys and yet the time of persecution would be cut short.

While I cannot imagine the Lord delaying another 15 years it seems like to say that He ought to come around 2031 A.D. but will come sooner is pretty close to a time prophecy and we are told there would be no more of them after 1844. I certainly would not do battle over this one one way or another.

I remember Ken Cox saying he doesn't want to be alive when Jesus returns. He said awaiting His return in the grave and hearing His call and be given life must be a incredible feeling.

There has never been a time in history, to my knowledge,when it seems that a world-wide Sunday law within a few months could be a possibility. The combination of terrorism, climate change hype, financial chaos and/or collapse, plus the influence of Pope Francis, along with a new American President, (any one of the three possibilities) who is very friendly with and probably under the influence of the Pope.

Ellen White says that we are not to say that He will come in 1, 2, or 5 years (can't remember the exact quote, but I just read in in Maranatha); but neither are we to say that it may not be for 15 or 20 years.  We are to be in a state of readiness at all times, for "we know not the day nor the hour. . . ."  "The final events will be rapid ones."  As the Berlin Wall came down unexpectedly and rapidly, so can the final events transpire.

While we do not know well ahead of times when, the closer the events occur, the more the people of God will know. However, God often does not tell us more than we need to know, and when we need to know, we will! I recall a place in the Great Controversy where is is said that God will announce the day and hour of his coming. The people of God will understand but the wicked will only hear thunder.

Daniel 12:10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

This particular verse from Daniel gives me pause to carefully consider my own situation often. What I see there is if I am not in a right relationship with God and are being purified, I won't have a clue what is going on around me. Just seeing the world is all messed up and getting worse does not really provide understanding. Even the heathen know that!

heathen - those who do not know God or Jesus
wicked - those who know of God and Jesus and what is right and chose not to follow it.

our visitation can come at any time...so we always need to be ready

we have to have the shaking of the church first and that hasn't happened but it cannot be far off

the state of the world right now is just like in Noah's time so I don't think it will be far off...

we still have to have the NSL...

we have to have the little time.....of trouble and the Loud Cry

then close of probation for the world

plagues fall

Jesus comes

It has already started.  If you read what she says on the subject, you'll find that there are at least 3 elements to the shaking:  the straight testimony, heresies coming in (CW 40), and  persecution.  We have not yet seen persecution in the "western world."  The "straight testimony" is being preached, but not to its fullest, I don't think, or there would me more of a reaction against it.  And heresies have multiplied exponentially in the past 50 years.  First there was Brinsmead, then Ford, and then it escalated; and now we have evolution, attempts to legitimize the sins for which Sodom was destroyed, attacks against the sanctuary doctrine, worldly entertainment masquerading as worship, denial of true sanctification, mockery of church standards, and I'm sure there are more.

yes, I was talking of the BIG shaking which would involve persecution...

I understand what you are saying about the 3 phases...

I understand what you are saying about the 3 phases...
the first phase is the strait testimony by the True Witness which is Jesus and the truth
second phase is heresies coming in... such as all the false counterfeits trying to draw us away
and third the persecution which will fully divide the wheat and the tares

do you have some really good quotes on this?  I want to study this even more...

God does things in stages often... as the judgement is in 3 stages also... Christ becoming King is done in phases as well....

Without digging out my sermon on the subject, the passage from CW 40, is the first one that comes to mind, and that is regarding heresies coming in.  Anyone who is over the age of 60 has seen the heresies multiply.  Things unheard of 50 years ago, are now commonplace:  doing yard work on Sabbath under the guise of "it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath;" going out to eat after church, so that one doesn't have to prepare a meal, rationalizing that the restaurant workers are there anyway; denial of the IJ, mockery of the SOP, chipping away at the moral standards of the church.  The list is nearly endless.  And then there is the so-called "One Project," and "prayer ministries," which promote contemplative prayer and questionable modes of meditation, among other things.

     God will arouse His people; if other means fail, heresies will come in among them, which will sift them, separating the chaff from the wheat. The Lord calls upon all who believe His word to awake out of sleep. Precious light has come, appropriate for this time. It is Bible truth, showing the perils that are right upon us. This light should lead us to a diligent study of the Scriptures, and a most critical examination of the positions which we hold.  {CW 40.1}
     God would have all the bearings and positions of truth thoroughly and perseveringly searched, with prayer and fasting. Believers are not to rest in suppositions and ill-defined ideas of what constitutes truth. Their faith must be firmly founded upon the word of God, so that when the testing time shall come, and they are brought before councils to answer for their faith, they may be able to give a reason for the hope that is in them, with meekness and fear.  {CW 40.2}
     Agitate, agitate, agitate! The subjects which we present to the world must be to us a living reality. It is important that in defending the doctrines which we consider fundamental articles of faith, we should never allow ourselves to employ arguments that are not wholly sound. These may avail to silence an opposer, but they do not honor the truth. We should present sound arguments, that will not only silence our opponents, but will bear the closest and most searching scrutiny. . . .  {CW 40.3}

seems like this is a combination of parts one and two?
