Title: The Holy Spirit - The Power of Godliness
Post by: Richard OFfill on August 09, 2015, 11:00:58 AM
There are Christians who may approach us and ask, “Do you have the Holy Spirit?”  For an Adventist this can be a little embarrassing, because usually these people have had what Mrs. White termed “experiences.”  What they are really asking is, “Do you speak in tongues or have some other physical phenomenon?”

What should we say?

" Yes"

Then we can either wait for part two which is usually, " do you speak in tongues?"

or we can ask " which do you consider the greater evidence of having the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues or having victory over sin in our life ?"

Another good follow up is to ask them, "did Jesus have the Holy Spirit?"  It is pretty hard for them to answer, " no."

Then follow with, "is there any indication in Scripture that Jesus spoke in tongues?"

Maybe the question to them should be .......

When you sin .... have you repented yet ?

When sinned against ....... have you forgiven yet ?

When convicted ....... have you obeyed yet ?

Then quote ( I am using KJV )  Acts 5: 28-32
