Title: SS quarterly and other concerns
Post by: newbie on May 24, 2014, 05:45:47 PM
...been teaching these lessons now for almost 10 years and there is increasing concern over some of the things said, implications in questions, and quotes from sources outside of our church.   :|  Am I alone in this concern.  Seems that re-writing the lesson before teaching is almost common practice for me right now.  ...using questions not in the quarterly but derived from bible passages noted in the lesson or SOP.

... heard a sermon recently that said something that made me look with shock and I almost fell out of the pew...  they said that Satan was not actually cast out of heaven...  said it was a spiritual casting out and that he could go where ever he wanted any where in the universe at least until the cross.

what's going on?

Newbie, was he thinking about Satan appearing before God as representative from earth as described in Job?

Thur lesson - May 22 2014   ....I raised my hand....... I have a controversy with this sentence ......... "although Christ had laid aside His divine nature when He became human..(Phil 2:5-11) ."....... that drew from me a quick heartfelt detailed response and Biblical explanation - QOD & 1888 got brought up in the explanation because the message of RBF hinged upon the post fall perfected humanity of The Divine Christ taking from Father God by faith as we must do from Christ, and totally restraining His Divine innate and very present natural self, which when using that natural Divine self, galaxies and stars and worlds got spoken into existence by Christ.  Christ retained ALL His Divinity or He could not represent God & Heaven while upon the earth, but He was not allowed to use ANY of it, living by faith and obtaining / receiving and obeying through union with Father God as we have to do through Him .

What's going on is that many people (including pastors) are not reading the SOP.

Whenever there are questions about statements in the quarterly, we discuss them in SS class.  We don't let the authors get away with anything if we can help it.  :-D

yes, Christ was fully divine and fully human...but His divinity was cloaked somehow otherwise people would be fried if they looked upon Him.

it is possible....

there was war in heaven...  Satan was cast out with his evil angels....  at the cross he was cast down

here is what this means...  eons of time ago Satan rebelled and he was allowed to let things play out until the rebellion became strong... there was war in heaven and he and his evil associates were cast out of the HOLY CITY and could not enter there again.  This could be called the 3rd heaven.  He was allowed to go to other worlds as well as the earth and we have evidence of this in Job...  The other worlds, stars, suns, moons....2nd heaven?  After the cross however all were convinced that Satan was pure evil and his government of evil was finished and he was confined to this earth and the 1st heaven only.  And he and his evil angels will dwell here now and through the 1,000 years until destroyed forever at the 3rd coming in the lake of fire.

You're absolutely right!  I know from personal experience what not reading the SOP can do to one's life (downward moral and spiritual spiral).  It keeps one on solid ground!
